Thanksgiving Day Mixer in the Park... well, actually at Shooters

There were high hopes for Nagoya-Life and their guests that the inaugural Thanksgiving Mixer Party would be held at Shonai Ryokuchi Koen on November 26th but alas the weather gods rained on the party and so our combined party with good friend Bill Brooks was held at Shooters Sports Bar and Grill in Fushimi.

The event was different from our regular mixer parties in a couple of ways. For starters, it was our first party on a Sunday and our first attempt to host an outdoor party. Furthermore, this year Nagoya-Life in coordination with Bill Brooks, agreed to help organize and take over the very successful Thanksgiving Day event that Bill has hosted for the past 7 years. Nagoya-Life would like to thank Bill for allowing us to continue the great tradition that he started in Nagoya and we look forward to hosting the same party next year out in the park!

Despite the poor weather, over 100 people attended the Thanksgiving Mixer and were treated to a delicious, traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings and live music by Brian Cullen and his band, Iznit Obvious. There was also our traditional mixer activity, this time a word scramble game as well as prizes galore for the guests. In addition to Shooters gift certificates for the mixer activity winners, a 10,000 yen voucher was given out by BEST Australia, two 3,000 yen gift certificates were given out for MyBAR, one 3,000 yen gift certificate was given out for The Red Rock and our grand prize winner, Ran Otsu went home with a brand new Apple iPod. For those not lucky enough to win a prize, there was candy and gum gift packs given out to every single guest due to the special generosity of Cadbury representative Mr. Kondo. Not a single guest, child or adult left empty handed due to his generosity and we extend our deepest gratitude to him.

Thanks to everyone who attended the party and we hope to see you on Saturday, December 23rd for our 2nd Annual Nagoya-Life Christmas Party. This will be our last party of the year and we have planned another 2nd party to follow the main one for everyone who wishes to continue their Christmas festivities!
